Chugoku Jozo

Chugoku Jozo

The Togouchi whiskies were originally produced by a company called Chogoku-jozo, which was actually known for Japanese shochu. The company also had stocks of whisky from the past, but the production of its own whisky was abandoned in the 1980s due to the difficult financial situation and instead started importing.
Today's Togouchi whiskies are thus a mixture of stocks from back then with freshly imported whisky. In Hatsukaichi, on the main island of Honshu in Hiroshima Prefecture, the Chugoku Jozo Distillery Co. Ltd. was specially founded. The company can be found at the following address: 1-12-1Sakutao, Hatsukaichi-shi, Hiroshima-ken, 738-8602. The distillery shifted more to blended whisky from 1990 onwards, with an international concept. In the years before and after, not a drop of whiskey was distilled by the company itself.
